COCAMO
sees Mozambican civil society complementing the role
of government in responding effectively to the needs
of Mozambique's marginalised. Mozambican civil society
promotes a culture of self-help. It accompanies local
people to find solutions to their own problems through
their own efforts. Women and other disenfranchised groups
are building a better life and have provided for their
basic needs.
COCAMO
sees civil society organisations outside of Mozambique
that accompany and co-operate with Mozambican civil
society organisations, each playing a complementary
role to empower the marginalised. Each respects and
learns from the other. Financial, human, cultural and
informational resources are shared. Each is aware of
the issues and struggles in other's countries. Each
involves itself actively in development education, lobbying
and policy for the benefit of their constituencies.
