WHO WE ARE

"COCAMO supports groups like the 'CAIXA'
that provide a hand up and not a handout
to poor women."

COCAMO's Values

As an international NGO, we believe the impact of our work will be more sustainable if we support the building of an active Mozambican civil society rather than working directly on the ground with the marginalised. We believe people need to define their own needs and future. We respect different cultures, values and knowledge systems.

Transparency and accountability in all policies, activities, finances, decision-making and operations are very important to us. We work with our Mozambican partners in a spirit of accompaniment. We continue to accompany partners that share COCAMO values and remain effective and responsive to the marginalised they serve. We do not work with groups that discriminate on the basis of race, gender, disability, religion, sexual orientation, age or ethnicity. We do however practice affirmative action to counter the discrimination of
marginalised groups. We are apolitical. We do not work with religious groups that
proselytize. Our organisational development is based on observation, reflection, learning, planning and action.
